Welcome to My Blog

My Reiki Practice is going well. The hours I work are spent in the most calm and concentrated state possible; moments of stillness which are in some ways similar to the act of meditation. It was partly due to this quiet and restful aspect of Reiki that I decided to take on work as a Care Assistant. The fact that the job is physically demanding makes I think for a good balance. This job caters to the most basic needs of those who have a wide range of physical and emotional needs. This is health care at its most fundermental. I have chosen the morning hours to do this, as they do not in most cases interfere with my client's preferences for appointment times. The work is in my opinion highly skilled! It is without a doubt an underrated job. In terms of healthcare, in many ways, it is at the opposite end of the spectrum from Reiki. Nonetheless, the knowledge I am gaining and the compassion that goes alongside the job can only be beneficial for my Reiki practice.

Even as the number of my clients grow and I become so much busier I still think it important to keep connected to the teaching and continuity of experience that so enhanced my knowledge of Reiki.

Once a month the Reiki Academy London holds a Reiki Share and I like to participate when I can not only to enjoy the talk and meditation but also to catch up with those I know and to have and help give a Reiki treatment.

I was very pleased to be invited back to give a Reiki Workshop for Open Age in North Kensington. The first time I visited was back in November and we managed to fit in a talk, question and answer session and even a small zazen meditation before I gave a series of Reiki treatments. The time for the treatments was limited but nonetheless very successful and we had an eventful and fun afternoon. On the 11th January I returned and had a wonderful time hearing the experiences of those that attended as well as giving my own insights.

Last week I gave my friend Don his first Reiki treatment as a thank you for the photos he took for my website. Don has intermittent back pain and was curious about how he would feel during the 50 minutes of lying still. As a man who is more comfortable being active than sitting around relaxing, the thought of being prone on the Reiki table for any length of time was worrying. The happy outcome was the time flowed so smoothly and the treatment was so calming that it was a success for both of us and Don even wanted a longer session. It was great to see him so quickly relax. The back pain which nags him on a daily basis left for the following few days for longer stretches of time and he wants to come back for another treatment. On Sunday he came round for tea with his friend Gilit. After a lovely afternoon I asked Don if he would agree to have a photograph taken for my first blog and we reenacted the scene as best we could.

Thank you so much Gilit for taking the photographs! Afterwards we sat down and had a look through the photos and discussed all things Reiki as well as the other healing methods that are available to all of us these days.
